Status: Decision log Scope: Model community, training, user-facing generation and membership/creator economy are separate evidence boundaries.

Compute and procurement#
Vendor case, 2025-05-08: Civitai used Runpod Secure and Community Cloud for LoRA training. The case reports 868,069 LoRAs in one month and three preview/validation images per trained model, producing over 2.6 million training-artifact images. It explicitly excludes the roughly 50 million monthly user-facing generations from this deployment: those used separate infrastructure. Do not label Runpod the provider of the whole image-serving fleet. These are historical vendor/customer reports, not audited current scale. Runpod case.
No current user-facing inference provider, legal hardware ownership split, procurement rate or utilization was established. Model storage and catalog hosting also need not use the training fleet.
Acquisition and monetization#
Direct primary capture: the pricing page identifies Green memberships at Bronze $10/month, Silver $25 and Gold $50, including 10,000/25,000/50,000 Green Buzz respectively, daily Blue Buzz multipliers, priority generation, private-model limits and creator monetization privileges. It says unrestricted creation moved to civitai.red. Thus credit type/content surface matters; a historical single-Buzz dollar conversion cannot be applied universally. The web reader could not open this page, but the direct HTTP capture contained the readable tariff. No checkout or payment-method acceptance was tested. Memberships.
The official education hub teaches training, prompt crafting and on-site generation. Memberships advertise earning from Buzz and monetizing model versions. Inference: creators bring models, tutorials and audience; users spend credits to execute those resources, with rewards helping replenish supply and activity. Current payout formulas, actual creator earnings and acquisition conversion were not verified. Education hub, generation guide.
Outcomes and implication#
The dated training case supports a rented-capacity creator-input loop, not an ownership-caused revenue narrative. Older notes' financial, payment and payout claims are not renewed without current primary evidence. Purchased Buzz redirected to login in our capture; no personalized price was inspected.
For ComfyICU, separate creator onboarding/training economics from serving costs, and investigate portable model access and transparent rewards. Present supplier split, legal title, channel retention, monetization cohorts and audited revenue remain unknown; no allocation was tested.
